No its only 4 wire.

Bummer. Does it at least look nice?
I.e. as part of the vehicle instead of an afterthought.
Trailer hitch

We think it looks just fine on ours. We did get a plug for it with a Lincoln emblem on it.

Yes... I had it on my 2015 MKC... I thought it looked just fine. The factory one is well integrated.

Thanks for the pic. I agree, looks pretty good.
I know nothing about trailer hitches or towing, but as a snowbird I need to drive a small car and the MKC 1,000 miles every 6 months. Instead of two of us doing the driving I would much prefer having the MKC tow the 3,500lb car Before I bought the MKC I asked my local U Haul store if it could be towed and they said that a small SUV like the MKC or even a mid size one like the MKX or Ford Edge or Nissan Murano are all too small to tow a car and if I tried, I could do major damage tot he transmission, engine, etc. They basically said I would need a large heavy duty type of pick-up truck. Does anyone dispute that opinion, and if so please provide details to someone (me) who has no idea about these things.
Thanks

You will need a larger tow vehicle than the MKC. Not only does the vehicles tow capacity come into play (3000 lb) but also wheelbase for stability. The MKC towing is more oriented to a couple of jet skis or a small fishing boat.
..andI believe the 2.3L is rated at 2500 lbs. on the 2015's.

Correct I was looking at 2016 specs.
Thanks for the towing info ! Just fyi, now that I have an MKC I guess I'm on Lincolns marketing mailing list, and in today's mail I received a Navigator brochure that says " Best In Class Towing - hauls up to a best-in-class 9,000lbs thanks to a 6 speed transmission with a tow/haul mode". I have no interest in going back to those behemoth SUV's.
Remember too that even though the tow capacity is 3000/2500-if you have trailers over about 2000 (half the weight of the MKC), you should have good trailer brakes. I had to upgrade my boat trailer, but the C pulls very nicely.
Question on the towing package: when I bought the MKC, they said they could install a tow package but they needed to order it. When it came in and they called me to pick the car back up they informed me that they had cut a hole in the bumper as this was the only way to install it. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Thanks!
I believe the bumper for the factory option has a hole for the hitch also.
So my question more specifically is: does anyone know if a factory bumper with the tow package exists where it can be put on after the fact. They literally cut a hole in the bumper. Thanks!
Hello,
I put an after-market hitch (Draw-Tight) on my MKC in about 2 hours - with no help. It is custom made only for the MKC and fit like a glove. It does not go through the bumper but "goosenecks" closely up in front of the lower bumper panel. I bought it only to haul bikes with a bike hitch made for a receiver-type hitch. It works perfectly and is rated for 3,000lbs. as is my 2015 2.0L MKC. It was only $135.00 via Amazon. I have no lighting connections only because I have had no need for lights - yet. Just thought you'd like to know there are other options!
You're putting a whole lot of demand on the MKC's tranny....would I tow anything beyond the recommended tow capacity....nope, you toast that tranny up, it's going to be repaired on YOUR dime.
"Navigator brochure that says " Best In Class Towing - hauls up to a best-in-class 9,000lbs....with something like this, I would...but it's designed to handle that weight!
You also have to look at the overall weight, not just the car you're towing, trailer and whatever else you add in.... and hauling something like that all the way to florida, I would also be changing the tranny oil more often!
For those of you that are interested, here is a picture of the Draw-Tight hitch I installed and how it looks compared to the factory unit. It takes about 2 hours and requires NO cutting or drilling and is a 3,000lb. rated hitch but, as Candy mentioned, use discretion on towing loads that high. As I noted earlier, I put mine on to transport a bunch of grandkids bikes around! It fits great and costs about $135 - $150 on Amazon and is custom-made for the MKC.

Nice job fitting that, beautifully tucked.....personally, if I was going to haul my quad (800 lbs) or a few bicycles, or some camping gear...sure I would have no hesitation as long as I am well below the MAX rated 3,000lbs....I would feel comfortable with no more than 2,000 lbs....if I wanted to tow heavier weights I will just use my V8 truck to get the job done!
My Dodge is rated at 8,500 lbs...my trailer also has line brakes that hook up to the truck....let me just say, I like to feel safe without taking it to the limit!
Bruce, does it interfere with using the kick under the bumper-to-open liftgate?
