I have a 2017 MKC VIN beginning with 5LMTJ3DH5 with about 95K miles on it.

A few weeks ago the car was vibrating. Brought it Pepboys who said the vibration was related to the brakes so we paid $600+ to repair the brakes. Big mistake, I know better now.

A few days ago the car started rattling / vibrating violently when idle and would jerk forward when the brakes are released.

After a few mechanic visits one diagnosing it as a motor mount issue, another as the front brakes, and finally a diagnosis that the torque converter is bad and needs to be replaced and suggested the entire transmission should be replaced as well.

With that said I am weighing a few options but wondering if I ahould I replace the torque converter (and transmission). If so, how much am I expecting to pay? I live in Northern NJ.

Thank you. I found the first link (2020 CSP). Called Ford directly and was told my vehicle was not eligible for this CSP given it was only limited to certain plant builds. I did ask if there were any other eligible CSPs or recalls and was told “No”. I will call back again and explicitly ask about the 2022 CSP.

Any suggestions on how to navigate this call? Any keywords that will increase the likelihood of a favorable outcome?

Thank you for replying. I have been incredibly stressed and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Sobbie, Are you certain that your car was not manufactured at the plants identified in the CSP? Did you verify this yourself or did the Lincoln dealer simply tell you your car did not fall under the plants listed? There is a way, think through your VIN numbe,r to know which plant your car was manufactured at and then approach the dealer.

I stumbled on this post and was curious if you ever got a resolution when calling? I truly believe my mkc should be covered under this. I printed and highlighted all of the info that matched my vehicle including the manufacturing plant. Ford told me my car doesn’t fall under this and said if it did it would pop up a notification when they pull my vin. But maybe I am misinterpreting it but the part that says VIN lists will not be activated for this service to me means that notification might not pop up. I called again a bit later and was told to call Lincoln who then told me to take it to a Ford dealership in my area. I’m beyond over this car and feel like maybe if i had a man call they would maybe do something since they act like I don’t know what I am talking about. But i guess not. Hopefully you were able to get it covered and have some advice for me lol thanks

If no extended warranty, you might be better off going through an independent trans shop as they will be rebuilt with latest tech and going into a dealer on a cash ticket can result in serious overcharging.
