Today I got my V1 installed. I could not use my normal method of hanging the V1 on my custom bracket that mounts between the headliner and under the visor clip. Our Visor clips don't have screws and I did not want to break the thing trying to figure out how it attaches/comes out.
I used the suction cup mount that comes with the V1, but since I have had those let loose too many times, I cut heavy duty double sided tape (the black rubbery stuff) for both cups. Cleaned the cups with Alcohol and clean the area on the windshield with alcohol as well to ensure (hopefully) that it continues to stick even in the hot summer months. We shall see....
So I have the V1 Bluetooth Module along with the Remote Display and OBDII connector. The OBDII provides the power for the V1 along with monitoring the vehicle speed for auto muting under set MPH. The remote display allows you to blank out the upper display so cars don't see your detector blinking away.
Running the wire was not the easiest thing in the world, but I got it done with minimal panel removal. I would have liked the remote display in a higher spot, but there really is not any place I could find that I liked. It hangs nicely where it is, if I am on a hard core road trip, I end up putting the V1 display on my phone (remember Bluetooth connection) and hang the phone on the vents above radio on my Kenu Airframe. Also where it is put the mute button easily within reach.
