What is the "S" means on the instrument panel just left of the odometer?

i noticed this morning that my odometer wasn't showing, to the eft of it, it was showing N, then when i got home, i shut it off and turned it back on, the odometer was showing and to the left of it, it says "S"

that shows the direction you are driving in, in this case SOUTH, you will notice it changes when you drive.

Which obviously is a directional compass of sorts..... easy enough to wonder what that "S" signifies, strange but true! Glad someone here knew about it's meaning or you'll be hard pressed to randomly think "oh, it a compass direction".
