What's next for Lincoln?

Alright, I think that the jury has decided that the MKC is a hit. I'm sure it will sell well, and it is doing a nice job of continuing Lincoln's revival. But where does Lincoln go from here?

Some are saying that Lincoln will opt for a halo car now, to really show what the new Lincoln is all about.

Another option would be making a sporty coupe that is more performance focused than the Lincoln MKZ.

I think its basically between those two options. Can you think of any other directions that Lincoln could go with its next model? Does anyone know if Lincoln has hinted at what they are planning next?

I would like to see more unique engine offerings like they are doing with the 2.3L Ecoboost in the MKC.

There were rumors in 2012/2013 that the 2.7L Ecoboost V6, that is now set to make it's debut in the 2015 Ford F-150, would also be making an appearance in the MKZ (in standard sedan and/or coupe form).

I think a 320 HP / 370 Ft-lb turbo V6 teamed with an 8 or 9 speed Auto + AWD would make a great high performance luxury family hauler to set the brand apart from it's Ford counterparts and keep step with the other lux brands.

Just my 2 cents.....
maybe in the future

but i dont think anytime soon

not sure if lincoln needs such a powerful mkc
Seeing where they stand and what they work best with, I think it's better if they stay with good commuter luxury vehicles.
But eventually it would be nice to see Lincoln's take on a more performance oriented wing. Maybe its not the right time for that right now, but once they have a good model line up set-up, it would only make sense for them to start adding more high powered engines and options. That would be the way to continue Lincoln's push to compete with other luxury brands.

MKZ not MKC.

Where they stand now has not really been a successful sales model. They need to take major steps to shake the "tarted up Ford" monicker. I think the MKC is a great move towards that.

They currently offer the 3.7L V6 on the MKZ and that option is not available on the sister Ford product (the Fusion). But I don't think the performance jump is great enough to justify the fuel economy hit. This will hopefully not be the case with the 2.3L on the MKC.

My suggestion was to offer the 2.7L Ecoboost, along with an upgraded transmission (8/9-speed), in the next iteration of the MKZ.

I agree completely. If you look at other Luxury brand offerings this is where you have to go if you want to be competitive.
Good call on the powertrain @Bamm1, i think it's something they could include on mid-cycle refresh if sales still aren't as good as they should be, something to revive it.
I know that Lincoln is trying to move upmarket right now, but every other luxury brand seems to be coming out with smaller cars like hatchbacks. Do you think that Linocln is in need of an entry-level little hatchback? They could also go with a wagon since that would be a more unique offering compared to what the other brands are selling in North America.

Before they even offer a hatch, they need a sedan that sits under the MKZ, in my opinion

I think one needs to look no further than Cadillac. If I am not mistaken, they have a coupe version of the ATS. So the idea that the MKZ could add a coupe version is likely. Also, Mercedes "E" has a coupe version. Kind of a throw back to the days when each model would include a 2 dr, a 4 dr and a coupe.
i haven't heard anything about a MKZ coupe

I have heard rumors of a flagship using the Mustang platform though. But its a wild rumor and continues to be.
