Hello,

I can figure out the benefit of turning the MKC into a hotspot, so that several devices can communicate each other.
But what's the purpose of connecting the car to wifi as a client?
My phone can be a hotspot, and I occasionally connect my computer to go to Internet via my phone.
I have also successfully connect my MKC to my phone this way, but what I can do with my car with this mobile phone Internet connection?
I'm interested in having real time traffic information for GPS, but I have looked through all menus, I haven't found anything suggesting this use.
Or there is an Internet browser in the car screen so that you can use it to visit Websites? (the screen is not really usable for that purpose, not responsive enough comparing to today's phone).

Thanks,

ZX

I put my Verizon LTE USB portable wi-fi Modem into the USB slot of my MKC hoping it would make my MKC a wifi hotspot but it didn't recognize, so I also don't see the point or understand how to make my MKC a hotspot.

Pages 373-374 of the MKC manual talk about how a car hotspot can be created but it is over my head. It looks like your USB wifi modem can have the SYNCH send Bluetooth internet connections to any devices you run within the car.

I'm into tech myself and I can tell you lincoln Flew over my head with this. I connected the internet from my house hoping something magical would happen. But nothing did. No ability to download apps better traffic info nothing. Its like someone programmed this and forgot to add functionality. I was also hoping that this is there because (maybe) we might get sync 3.0 because it has the ability to update its self over wifi. But every place I read suggest that 2015 MKC is not getting sync 3.o .

Doing remote starts and locking via the app seems to work quicker when I'm home. I have my MKC connected to my home network and think that may play a role. It takes longer to relay the signal when outside my home network. I don't know the full purpose of the wi-fi connection unless it will play a role in any sort of updates to software, maintenance or other features.

How do you connect the car to your home wifi? It would be great if the remote features worked faster this way.

With Sync 3 when you connect to home wifi the updates will happen automatically.
