I had my windshield replaced along with some body damage and I see a big gap between the headliner and the windshield.

I can easily put my fingers thru the gap or pull it down. And the edges look a bit ragged.

The repair shop said this is how it was before but I had never noticed it.
I can't believe that it could look this shoddy.

Do these guys really know what they are talking about.
I was trying to find a photo on the web, but couldn't come across a single photo where the headliner meets the windshield.

Honestly, that was first thing that I noticed on my 2017 MKC two days into my purchase. I had the same thought about a 45K car having that big of a gap. I will try to get some pictures today but I think mine original windshield gap looks about the same.

The edges are kind of frayed as well. It seems unfinished. If that's the way it comes from the factory that just seems strange.
