Lincoln teamed up with Revel to create a sound system that would deal with all the obstacles to a great in-car sound system -- noise pollution from outside the car, soft surfaces that absorb sound, and hard surfaces that reflect surfaces.
Apparently audio engineering was considered from the very start.

Apparently audio engineering was considered from the very start.
The top-shelf version of the system would use 19 speakers, and the second tier version offers 12. Engineers tuned the equalizer to increase the bass as speed increases because road vibrations make bass less perceptible. Engineers even created different sound settings depending on the materials customers choose with their personal MKX.“I was allowed to be there in the clay model studio, and make sure that things that are really important for audio, that auto manufacturers are unaware of, were taken care of properly,” says Kevin Voecks, product development manager at Harman.
