I have the remote start climate control setting set to auto and the heated seats/wheel set to on. I tried the remote start for the first time today and yesterday morning. Since I had the climate set to auto, I was not expecting the blower fan to be running when I got in the car as it was only a few seconds from the time I used the remote start until I got into the car....the engine was not even warmed up enough yet so the climate control should not have turned the blower on. The dashboard was black except for the message 'shift into gear to drive away' or something like that. When I did that everything lit up as per a normal start, and the blower fan turned off indicating that the engine was not warmed up, the climate control was set to auto however the heated seats and steering wheel were off. Is this what is supposed to happen?

I think there are parameters in the setup menus that control how auto-start works. Regarding the blower on high that is typical allowing the windows to defrost and getting any heat into the cabin regardless of the coolant temperature. Our 2011 Edge did the same thing. A lot of how it works is driven by the outside temperature at startup.
Yes I went through the set up menu for auto start. The climate control can be set to either 'auto' or 'previous setting'. I have it set to auto. On my previous 7 cars that had auto climate control, the blower function did not operate until the engine had warmed up enough so that it would blow at least luke warm air rather than blowing ice cold air upon immediate start up. Blowing ice cold air does not aid in window defrosting. Warm air cannot get into the cabin until the engine has warmed which is why there is normally a delay on the blower starting until that engine temperature is reached.
I agree with you if the fan was set to Hi manually. However if the system is in the auto mode, and the weather is cold enough that heat is called for, then the fan should not run until the engine has reached a certain temperature in order that it can provide warm air. This is how auto climate control systems work. If I had manually set the fan speed when the car was last turned off and I had set the remote start climate control to 'previous settings' instead of 'auto' then I could understand why the blower would be operating when I got in the got after a remote start but since I do have it set to auto and I did get in the car in less than a minute after remotely starting the car, the engine would not yet have warmed up (since it is cold here right now) and therefore the blower should not have been operating as evidenced by it turning off as soon as I hit the gear selector button to drive off.
All I can say is my 2011 Edge with automatic climate control and Sync would set the blower to hi on a remote start in cold weather if the cabin temperature is cold regardless of the coolant temperature. Once I hit the start button the fan speed became controlled by the climate control system and was greatly reduced. I remember may times opening the door on the Edge after a remote start in winter hearing the fan on HI. Was your climate control on when you turned off the car?
The climate control is always set to auto and the setting for remote start climate control is also set to auto.
Just my opinion from just having installed a super high efficiency furnace in my home:
I suspect the remote start turns the heater blower on high immediately to grab any BTUs available in the coolant, or about to be available in the coolant, even though that air flow might FEEL cool to us, because more than likely we aren't going to be in the remote started vehicle to notice if the air flow is cold or luke warm. In other words, any BTUs is better than no BTUs if you want the car to warm up.

I don't understand then, what the remote start climate control setting 'auto' really means or is supposed to do. Obviously it doesn't function the same way as auto on the climate control when the car is running.
I don't think the auto setting controls the heated seats/wheel for the remote start as there is another setting for this function for the remote control start. On my MKC there are 2 settings for the remote start. One is for climate control which is either 'auto' or 'previous settings' and the other is for heated seats/wheel which is either 'off' or 'on'.
I also think the heated steering wheel has to be manually turned ON every duty cycle....if you had it ON, turned the car off and stated it up again, you'd have to go into climate control and turn ON steering wheel.
On my 2016 MKC a remote start will start engine and also interior fan is on, possibly on high...the second I get in and place my foot on the brake and engage "Drive" things change instantly....steering wheel adjusts to set settings, then seat goes to it's set position I chose and programmed and climate control adjusts to last settings, but fan changes speed and temp goes toward the set temps for both right and left areas.
Even if I do not start it with remote, and simply open the door get it and start up,till I engage drive all I said above seems to still happens...
I have noticed how incredibly fast this car comes to normal temps from a cold start.....can almost measure it within a city block!
I do wish I had the option to set steering wheel to auto heat and move on, rather than having to do it for every start cycle....winter lasts a lil longer than a day or two, giving this feature an auto ON till you decide otherwise would be a vast improvement and less of a PITA.....UNLESS Im missing something!

In the remote Start settings (on the left dashboard) there are 2 options - one is for climate control (can choose either 'auto' or 'last settings') and the 2nd is for heated seats/steering wheel off or on. If you choose on, then when you start the car with the remote starter, the seats and steering wheel will heat (or cool in the summer). When you press on the brake and shift into gear, the climate control reverts to the previous setting and the seats/steering wheel heat turns off. If you want them on again you have to manually turn them on.

Yes while the car is running, set the settings under remote start to the way you want them to be. You only have to do this once...they will be saved until the next time you decide to change them. Then the next time you remote start the car, these settings will be used up until you press on the brake and shift into gear....then the settings for the climate control on the centre console take over and the heated seats/steering wheel will turn off. If you want them on you have to switch them on again on the centre console.
Country guy,I used the left toggle control on the steering wheel to look for "remote start settings" and came up empty handed...my MKC is a 2016....OR are you talking within the screen itself in "climate"?
I was unable to locate these settings other than auto, then manually turn ON heated steering wheel,but it cancels every time I remote start the car and have to manually go into climate and turn it on again...I also could not find Heated seats other than on the dash in manual mode...drivers side and passenger side.

My MKC is a 2015 so I don't know if the options have changed or not. You use the left controls on the steering wheel. On mine, I do the following. Select Settings, then Vehicle, then Remote Start. Now you will see settings for Climate Control and Seats & Steering Wheel as well as Duration and System. You must have System checked in order to enable Remote Start. It is on page 115 in the owner's manual.
Even with all the settings in the cluster set to "on" and "auto", does anyone know if the ambient air temp inside the car has to be below a certain temperature for the seats and steering wheel to activate during remote starting? I live in So. Cal. and, while it hasn't been cold here by Northern U.S. or Canadian standards, it has been chilly lately in the early mornings and evenings. When I use the remote start and first enter the car, I can tell the heater has been working, but the seats and steering wheel have not. Wondering if it just isn't cold enough where I am for those to automatically activate with the remote start...
I need to hunt this issue in the owners manual...Lincoln might have changed some of these settings for the 16 model year.

I checked the 2016 owner's manual on-line...the settings for the remote control start are explained on page 113. They procedure is the same as I explained above for the 2015 model. You are using the left controls on the steering wheel for the display screen on the left dashboard? And you have to page down a couple of times.
Well I was able to find the settings you guys mentioned...they are sort of found within a different layer of settings within settings, but got it set up as logical as I understand, steering wheel ON...we'll see what happens this morning when I start her up!

Kinda funny...this conversation about heated steering wheel programmed to come ON, on remote start up...
I ran this situation past my salesman, and he IS a techie.....had a **** of a time figuring out what to do....so he trucks off to the shop and comes out with a certified mechanic....between the both of them and me giving them input and telling them" the guys on the Lincoln forum have this under their belts" LOL....no matter what they tried, it just would not work.
If anyone feels like helping me out with a step by step setup to get the steering wheel to turn ON on a remote start up would be REALLY appreciated,maybe it should be a sticky on this forum.
My wife is gonna put me in the dog house if I continue to mess with this, which means....sex life drops to negative non existent for the next few days!!!!! lol
